With a new skyline to sketch, and inspiration for new paintings at every turn, the family set out for many, many walks in the new home city. Dressed for the weather, and without a car, many streets and parks were explored. The job hunt and shopping were also reasons to head out almost daily.

Would the early adjustments have been easier with today's e-connections? News to and from the former home would always be about two weeks old. Photos were far too heavy and expensive to send easily, and phone calls were a challenge also because of the time difference.
